Panic disorder is common – it is a disease of many thousands of people. Manifestations of anxiety disorders are diverse, distinguished in different forms of these disorders.Panic disorder is one of the most frequent and severe anxiety disorders. It brings suffering of patients and their families.

The main feature of panic disorder is recurring panic attacks, ie, sudden onset of fear and discomfort associated with symptoms such as shortness of breath, palpitations, dizziness, dyspnea, chest pain, tremors, sweating and fear to die or go mad.  Typically, these attacks usually last from 5 to 20 minutes. Patients often mistakenly believe that they have a heart attack.

Having lived through several such attacks, many are beginning to feel in awe of the following, which can happen in a place where they will not be able to get or where can not get help – in a tunnel in the middle of the row in the cinema, on the bridge or in a crowded elevator. They begin to avoid all these situations, and walk around these places at a great distance, sometimes limiting their residence, home or refusing to leave without an escort who trust.

This phenomenon is known as “agoraphobia”, which in Greek literally means “fear of market areas. Some patients are exempt from panic disorder spontaneously, others for many years after the first attack recidivism, finally, there are those that are stay-at-home for many years.
